Hello creative friends. I hope everyone is having a good week. My week has been going well. This week I have several mini journals that I created using pattern paper, scrap paper, paints and ephemera from my stash. I wanted to create a video showing several different ways to create a mini journal and each type of journal has a different number of pages and different pockets. Here are some pics of the mini journals I created.
And here is the video showing how I create these mini journals.
I really enjoy making these mini journals and love how they turned out. Now to figure out what to put in them. Hope you like the video and try making these mini journals yourself if you have not made these types of journals before. Thank you stopping by. Until next time Happy Creating.
Hello creative friends. Hope everyone is having a good week. Mine has been going well. This week I have a couple of steampunk panels I made using a couple of wood panels, die cuts of gears, modeling paste, a stencil, metallic paint, and ephemera from my stash. I had my husband cut up a pallet into wood panels that I could use for painting on or mixed media. I also got a new large gears die cut from Sizzix and a Stampendous Gears Stencil that I used for this project. After adding modeling paste through the stencil onto the panels and cutting out some gears with the die cut, I used metallic paint to color the panels and the die cut gears. I attached the gears to the panels with dimensional dots and then add a quote from my stash. Here are pictures of the panels I created.
And here is the video showing how I created these panels.
I also posted another video this week showing a flip through a Hummingbird journal that I made and have in my Etsy shop for sale. Here is the video of this journal.
I really like the steampunk panels that I created and have them displayed in my living room. And I really like the journal I made as well. I love all of the journals I make and enjoy making them and sharing them with others. I hope you like the videos and if you have any questions, please leave a comment. If interested in this journal or any of the journals I created please visit my Etsy shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoysArt360 or You can connect with me on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/joysart360/ if you have not done so already. Hello creative friends. Join me as I create an art journal page using the inspiration sticks that I created, metallic paint, Posca Pens, stamping and ephemera from my stash. The sticks I pulled in order were scrap papers, metallic, add a boarder, random words, dots, stamping and gears. At this point I felt I had enough on the page and found a quote and pics in my stash to finish this page. I made a tape transfer of one of the pictures and used some gears left over from another project that I die cut and painted up. I added some string and a key to finish the page. Here are pics of the page I created.
And here is a video showing how I created this page.
I really like the way this page turned out and love the steampunk style. And the picture from Salvador Dali I used is one of my favorites. I have a large print of it in my home, along with several other prints of his. I think this is definitely one of my favorite art journal pages. Thank you for stopping by. Until next time, happy creating.
Hello creative friends. I hope everyone is having a good week. Mine week has been going well. This week I have an art journal page that I created using the inspiration sticks I created a couple of weeks ago, Dylusions sprays, Posca pens, oil pastels and ephemera from my stash. I added another set of sticks in purple so that when I begin a page I can pull one of these and it will be a product to add color to the page to start. The sticks I pulled in order were spray inks, animal, oil pastels, paint pens and random works. Then I pulled hearts, however since the page was going in a different direction I decided to stop there and finish the page with some quotes from my stash, no hearts LOL. Here are pics of the page I created:
And here is the video showing how I created this page:
I really like the way this page turned out and I like the process better since I now have purple sticks that I can pull from first to add color to the page. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a good week. Until next time, happy creating.
Hello creative friends. Hope everyone is having a good holiday and enjoying time off with family. I have been enjoying my time off and found some time for creating, in between the family holiday festivities. I created a mini holiday journal using 6x6 cardboard panels that I cut, used white Gesso on the front and black Gesso on the back of the panels, and then used spray inks to add color and texture to the panels. I then went online to Graphics Fairy and found some Christmas themed clip art to use in the journal. I coffee stained music note papers and burned the edges of the one for the front cover. I used stamps and other ephemera from my stash to complete the pages. And then added jump rings and ribbons to bind the journal together. Here are pics of the mini Holiday journal that I created.
And here is a quick video showing how I made this journal.
I've been having a lot of fun making these mini journals and have others that I created in different themes that I plan to share; however since this was a holiday themed journal I decided it should be shared sooner rather than later. I really like the way this journal turned out and hope it inspires you to create one too. Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a Happy New Year. Until next time, happy creating.
Hello creative friends. Hope everyone is had a good holiday and is having a good week. My holiday was good and my week has been going well so far. So after creating my inspiration sticks last week, I decided to put them to the test and create an art journal page using them. The sticks I pulled in order were glitter/sparkle, stamping, paint pens, tape transfer and oil pastels. I realized after creating this page that I did not have any color on the page and would have preferred to start out with some kind of color on the page first. To finish this page I sprayed it to add some color and then found a title and a couple of quotes from my stash to add to that page. I then made a couple of more inspiration sticks that I painted purple and added supplies from my stash to them that would add color to the page. So next time I figured I could pull one of the purple sticks to add color to the page first and then pull from the other sticks to add more to the page. Here are pics of the journal page I created.
And here is the video showing how I create this page.
Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful new year. Until next time, happy creating.
Hello creative friends. Hope everyone is having a good week. My week has been good, but busy at work. Have you ever been at a loss for what to do on an art journal page? I think most art journaler's have at one point or another. Well I have been seeing where people have been making inspiration sticks and thought I would make a set for myself. I decided to go through my supplies and make a list so that I could put them on the sticks and that way use supplies that I have not used in a while or in some cases not at all. I painted the sticks with Dylusions paints and wrote on them with Posca pens. I also added techniques, like tape transfer, scrape in paint, etc. And shapes, like hearts, butterflies, etc. Here is a video showing how I made my inspiration sticks.
These will help me when I am feeling stuck or have no idea what to do on an art journal page. Over the next couple of weeks I will post art journal pages that I created using my inspiration sticks. Have you made a set of these yet? If not, you should, they are fun to use, even if you just want to mix things up. Thank you for stopping by. Until next time, happy creating.
