Journal Page - Laugh Love Live

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is have a good week.  Mine has been very busy and I've been working a lot of overtime the past two weeks.  This week I have an art journal page that I created to share with you.  I used paint, stencils, stamps, sprays and ephemera to create this art journal page.  I also filmed it and did my first voice over, so let me know what you think.  When I started this journal page I had no idea what I was going to do.  I just figured I would start putting paint on the page and that something would eventually evolve and it did.  I also decided to add some dimension to the page with flowers and tags and I really like the way it turned out.  Here is the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this journal page.

As mentioned above, this is my first voice over, so let me know what you think.  Hope everyone has a great week and a relaxing 4th of July weekend.  Until next time, happy creating.

Art Tiles

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a great week.  This past weekend my granddaughter came to visit and we created art tiles.  I saw a video on YouTube from Joggles.com showing how to make art tiles and thought it would be a fun project to do with her.  We used a box from crackers, painted it and glued on Tim Holtz tissue paper for the background.  Then we went through our stash and added quotes and pictures cut from magazines then embellished them with charms, beads, buttons and flowers.  Here are the art tiles I created.

And here are the art tiles my granddaughter created.

We had a lot of fun creating these art tiles.  Not sure what we are going to use them on, but I'm sure we can figure something out.  Have you created art tiles before?  If so what did you use them on?  I would love to hear about it.  Hope everyone has a great week.  Until next time, happy creating.

Journal Page - Imagination

Hello creative friends.  This week I have a journal page I created called Imagination.  I also created a video to show how I created this journal page.  I covered the page first with torn papers and watered down gesso.  I added some stamping to the page with Staz-on ink pads and some coloring with watercolors.  Then I added items that I found in my stash.  I finished the page by darkening around the page with purple ink.  Here are pics of the page I created.

And here is the video I created showing how I created this page.

This is the first voice over I have done in a video, so let me know what you think.  Do you like the voice over or prefer the music?  I would love to hear from you.  I hope everyone has a great week.  Until next time, happy creating.

Journal Pages & Treasure Boxes

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a great week.  This past weekend my granddaughter came to visit so of course we spent the weekend in the scrap room.  Our first project was an art journal page using tape transfers.  We painted our background, created tape transfers to add to our pages and then add some ephemera to finish the pages.  Here is the art journal page I created with two tape transfers of a cardinal and a tiger, a Tag with a quote I added and K&Company ephemera:

Here is my granddaughters journal page with two tape transfers of fish.  She added additional fish stickers, some shell stickers, a cutout from some scrap paper and a word from a magazine.

We also made treasure boxes.  I recently watched a video from Einat Kessler where she put some small boxes together and decorated them in steampunk style.  I thought that would be a fun project to do with my granddaughter, so I found some small jewelry boxes, we painted then, covered them with Tim Holtz tissue paper, hot glued them together and then decorated them with various charms and gems.  Here is the treasure box I made:

And here is the treasure box my granddaughter made.

As always we had a lot of fun this weekend making our journal pages and treasure boxes. We started working on another project, but ran out of time, so I am looking forward to her next visit so that we can finish the project we started.  Hope everyone has a great week, until next time happy creating.

Journal Page - Just Start

Hello creative friends. I hope everyone is having a good week.  This week I have a two page art journal layout that I created using printed tissue paper as a background and then using watercolors to color the tissue paper.  I added a quick drawing of a bird, some ephemera and a quote to finish out this journal page.  The quote is from Mark Twain and it says "The secret of getting ahead is getting started.  The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.".  This has been a mantra I have lived by most of my life to break larger overwhelming tasks into smaller tasks and then start working on one small task at a time.  Sometimes half the battle is getting started and if you can just start on one small task then that helps get the ball rolling to accomplishing bigger tasks. Here are pics of the page:

I hope you enjoy the video and I hope everyone has a great week.  Until next time happy creating.
