Keepsake Journals and a Painted Tiger

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a great week.  My week is going well.  This week I have a set of Keepsake journals that I made for my Etsy shop and a tiger that I pained in my art journal.  The Keepsake journals are made out of packaging that I received and thought they would make great journals.  So I used the packaging for the journal covers and added pages using plane and pattern paper.  I added some pockets and tags, beads and charms and then stickers from my stash.  After creating the books I covered a box in pattern paper and added a ribbon to keep them all together.  Here are pictures of the Keepsake journals I created.

I really like the way this set turned out and think they are really cute.  If interested in purchasing any of the journals I made you can visit my Etsy shop at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoysArt360 and you can see a video showing a flip through these journals on my YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/7WM7CoH_fZQ

I have always like to draw animals, but have also wanted to learn to paint animals.  So I decided to paint a tiger in my art journal for practice.  I drew the tiger and then used watercolor paints to quickly color the background.  I then used acrylic paint to paint the tiger.  Here is a picture of the tiger I painted in my art journal.

And if interested here is the video showing how I painted the tiger.

I really like the way it turned out and had fun painting it, but need more practice painting animals.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great week. Until next time, Happy Creating.

Believe in Yourself Mini Journal

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been going well.  This week I have another mini journal that I created using cardboard panels, Gesso, Dylusions and Adirondack spray inks, copy write free images, markers, Tim Holtz chit chat, a china marker, a black ink pad, ribbon and ephemera from my stash.  I distressed the cardboard panels, then scraped white gesso across the panels.  I sprayed the panels with spray inks to add color to the panels, printed copy write free images and colored them with markers.  I added the images I colored and ephemera from my stash to the panels.  I used a black ink pad around the edge of the panels, traced around the pictures with the china marker and added quotes from Tim Holtz chit chat.  I then finished the journal by painting the back of the panels with black gesso and used ribbon to bind it all together.  Here are a couple of the panels in this journal.

And here is a video showing how I created this mini journal.

I have really been having a lot of fun making these mini journals.  And this is a good way to use up all of the boxes from the Amazon deliveries LOL.  I cut them down to the size panels that I want to use for making mini journals and I have a stack of them in different sizes.  I hope you try this and have fun making your own mini journals.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment or send me an email.  Until next time, happy creating.

Flip Through a Renaissance Junk Journal

Hello creative friends.   I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been going well.  I made several junk journals and this is the first one that I’ve completed decorating.  I decided this journal would be a Renaissance journal.  I using junk mail to create this journal and then used Renaissance pictures to fill it up.  I painted the pages with acrylic paint, then added the pictures, and then I added titles and quotes from my stash to the pages.  Here is the video showing a flip through this journal.

It was fun making this journal, but took much longer to complete than I anticipated.  I like the Renaissance era and am really happy with the way it turned out.  If interested in seeing how I created the junk journal that I used for this project, you can see the video on my YouTube channel at:  https://youtu.be/FQydGND8Atk  if you have not already seen it.  Thank you for stopping by and hope you enjoy the video.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you.  Hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Flip Through

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  This week I have an art journal flip through of an 11" x 14" journal that I've decided is done.  This journal was actually a sketch journal that I used as a mixed media journal by applying Gesso to the pages.  However after completing about 30 pages, the journal was pretty full, so I removed the remaining 20 pages to use for something else.  If you have been following my blog for very long, most of the pages you've seen and a lot of them have video's on my YouTube channel that I created showing how I made the pages.  Here is the video showing the flip through of this journal.

I hope you enjoy the flip through and visit my YouTube channel, if you have not already, to check out the video's on some of the pages in this journal.  Thank you for stopping by and watching.  If you have any questions, please leave me a comment.  I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.
