Created a mini Holiday Journal

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good holiday and enjoying time off with family.  I have been enjoying my time off and found some time for creating, in between the family holiday festivities.  I created a mini holiday journal using 6x6 cardboard panels that I cut, used white Gesso on the front and black Gesso on the back of the panels, and then used spray inks to add color and texture to the panels.  I then went online to Graphics Fairy and found some Christmas themed clip art to use in the journal.  I coffee stained music note papers and burned the edges of the one for the front cover.  I used stamps and other ephemera from my stash to complete the pages.  And then added jump rings and ribbons to bind the journal together.  Here are pics of the mini Holiday journal that I created.

And here is a quick video showing how I made this journal.

I've been having a lot of fun making these mini journals and have others that I created in different themes that I plan to share; however since this was a holiday themed journal I decided it should be shared sooner rather than later.  I really like the way this journal turned out and hope it inspires you to create one too.  Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a Happy New Year.  Until next time, happy creating.

Art Journal Page - Dreams

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is had a good holiday and is having a good week.  My holiday was good and my week has been going well so far.  So after creating my inspiration sticks last week, I decided to put them to the test and create an art journal page using them.  The sticks I pulled in order were glitter/sparkle, stamping, paint pens, tape transfer and oil pastels.  I realized after creating this page that I did not have any color on the page and would have preferred to start out with some kind of color on the page first.  To finish this page I sprayed it to add some color and then found a title and a couple of quotes from my stash to add to that page.  I then made a couple of more inspiration sticks that I painted purple and added supplies from my stash to them that would add color to the page.  So next time I figured I could pull one of the purple sticks to add color to the page first and then pull from the other sticks to add more to the page.  Here are pics of the journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I create this page.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful new year.  Until next time, happy creating.

Created Inspiration Sticks

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been good, but busy at work.  Have you ever been at a loss for what to do on an art journal page?  I think most art journaler's have at one point or another.  Well I have been seeing where people have been making inspiration sticks and thought I would make a set for myself.  I decided to go through my supplies and make a list so that I could put them on the sticks and that way use supplies that I have not used in a while or in some cases not at all.  I painted the sticks with Dylusions paints and wrote on them with Posca pens.  I also added techniques, like tape transfer, scrape in paint, etc.  And shapes, like hearts, butterflies, etc.  Here is a video showing how I made my inspiration sticks.

These will help me when I am feeling stuck or have no idea what to do on an art journal page.  Over the next couple of weeks I will post art journal pages that I created using my inspiration sticks.  Have you made a set of these yet?  If not, you should, they are fun to use, even if you just want to mix things up.  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.

And here is a video showing how I created this page.

I like how this page turned out and am planning to add more animals to my journal pages.  Hope you like the video.  Thank you for stopping by, until next time happy creating.

Art Jounral Page - Lift Your Spirits and Cedar Keys Vacation

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  I've been getting caught up from being on vacation last week.  Me and my husband went to Cedar Keys for a couple of day and had a good time.  Here are some pics from our visit.

Cedar Keys is a nice little town on an island off the coast of Florida.  The last picture was taken while on a boat tour that we went on of the islands around Cedar Keys.

This week I have an art journal page that I created using ink sprays, Posca pens and ephemera from my stash.  In the video (below), I wanted to show how you can add animals to art journal pages without having to freehand draw them.  I love drawing animals and wildlife, but sometimes I don't want to spend the time drawing an animal and not everyone can draw animals, but may want to include them in their journals.  Here are pics of the journal page I created.

And here is a video showing how I created this page.

I hope this helps inspire including more animals in their journals and I hope everyone has a great week.  Until next time, happy creating.

Art Journal Page - Monarch Butterfly

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going good.  Can't wait for the long weekend, work has been very busy.  This week I have a journal page that I created about Monarch butterflies.  The background was one I created a couple of weeks ago in my 8x8 Dylusions journal.  I added modeling paste through a Tim Holtz stencil and then used a green ink pad to color the modeling paste.  I added a picture from a magazine and a page from a brochure I got from a butterfly garden that tells about the Monarch butterfly.  Then I used a black ink pad around the edge of the page and a black Posca pen to trace around the pictures.  Here are pics of the page I created.

And here is a video showing how I created this page.

I really like the way this page turned out.  I think Monarch butterflies are my favorite.  Hope you like the video.  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.

Art Journal Page - Venture Forth & Explore and Ocala Country Days

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  Mine is going well.  This weekend me and my husband went to Ocala Country Days.  It's a local festival that has lots of hand made items, antiques, food and reenactments.  Here are a couple of pics from the festival.

The cannon was so loud, I jumped every time they fired it.

We always enjoy going and I was able to pick up a couple things, a curved needle, some leather and wax thread, for making journals.

Also I have another journal page that I created in my new 8x8 Dylusions Journal.  This is another finished page on a background that I made previously.  I used some painted paper towels, markers, charms, quotes and ephemera from my stash.  Here are pics of the journal page I created.

And here is a video showing how I created this journal page.

I really liked the way this journal page turned out and had a lot of fun creating it.  Hope you enjoy the video.  Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a great week.  My weeks is going well.  This weekend I creating a beanbag toss game for the kids to play who will be coming to my work for Halloween.  I drew and painted a Charlie Brown great pumpkin scene on cardboard and cut holes in it for tossing a beanbag or ball through.  Here is a picture of the Halloween game I created.
