Sugar Sugar Journal Page

Hello creative friends.  This weekend my granddaughter came to visit and we worked in our art journals.  As I've mentioned before I signed up for Life Book 2014, so we did one of the Life Book journal pages called Sugar Sugar.  Here are our completed pages:

We had a lot of fun creating these pages together, we always have fun creating together.  Some of the Life Book pages are ones that I feel my granddaughter can easily do and have fun with, so I save those for when she comes to visit.  So what have you been working on lately?  I would love to hear about it.  Until next time.

Feature Artist on Jennibellie's TAT

Hello creative friends.  I am so excited.  This week I am the feature artist on Jennibellie's TAT - Tell All Tuesday - weekly post.  I have been following her for a couple of years now and she is such an inspiration.  She is so creative and always has the best ideas for creating art without having to spend a lot of money and has a lot of great ideas on recycling what you have.  A girl after my own heart.  Click below to view my interview with her:

I have also joined Jennibellie's Journal Workshop and have been enjoying that as well.  I am really enjoying being a part of a community of like minded souls.

I hope you enjoy my interview with her and are inspired.  I am so inspired by the interviews of other featured artists on her website and they help me to realize that I am not alone in my struggles to be an artist, finding confidence in myself and finding my own artistic style.  What inspires you?  I would love to hear about it.  Thanks Jennifbellie and thank you creative friends for stopping by.  Until next time.

Blueberry Festival

Hello creative friends.  Another week of studying and finishing up this class that I've been working on for my certification.  I finally completed and submitted my answers to the questions from the class and am waiting to hear if I successfully passed, fingers crossed.  So unfortunately another week gone by where I was unable to do anything creative.  However, I did manage to take a break on Saturday to go to a Blueberry festival and it was nice to get out, get some fresh air and see what other creative artists are doing.  Here are a few pics from the festival.

The blueberry beer was pretty good.  I bought a necklace from a creative artist that I have bought from before at other craft festivals.  I would like to one day have my own booth at one of the many festivals and craft fairs that go on during the year.  I am looking forward to getting back to doing something creative and getting my hands dirty again.  And going to the festival helped spark my creativity.  What sparks your creativity?  I would love to hear from you.  Until next time, have a great week.

My Granddaughter's Art Journal

Hello creative friends.  Unfortunately I am still focused on completing the class for work that I have to do and have not been doing much by the way of art lately.  Such is the life of a creative person.  It is always a struggle to find time to be creative and balance it with everything else going on in our lives.  However, I have committed to blogging weekly and documenting my progress, process and struggles as an artist so here we go.  I've talked about how I love to art journal with my granddaughter before and someday doing a post on her art journals.  So I decided to do that this week.

When my children were younger I would always try to encourage them to be creative and artistic.  Most times they were not very interested.  But I always have so much fun when my granddaughter comes to stay.  She loves painting and art journaling.   She is so creative and loves to just play all day in the art room.  I set up an area for her with her own paints, markers, stamps, etc., partly so she has her own supplies and partly so she doesn't use up all of mine.  Here are some pics from her art journals.

Children are so creative and have none of the hang-ups that we develop as we get older.  Creating art with a child helps you to loosen up, have fun and not take your art so seriously.  They can be so inspiring.  Do you have opportunities to create art with a child?  With your own, a friends, a relative or otherwise?  I would love to hear about.  Until next time, have a great week.

My Travel Journal and Kit

Hello creative friends.  As of late life is getting in the way of my creative process as it sometimes does.  I have been focusing on completing a class to maintain a certification for work.  So I do not have much to show, but I though I would show you some pages from my travel journal that I've done recently.  I put together a travel kit so that I could do art on the go or during my lunch at work.  In my travel kit I have a small journal, pencils, pens, color pencils, markers, a small watercolor kit and a tablet with pictures on it from my vacations and trips.  Here are some drawings I did in pen and color pencil from pictures I took while on my honeymoon last year in Gatlinburg, GA.  This is a drawing of the cabin that we stayed in.

This is a picture that I drew of the scenery looking out of the living room window of the cabin.

And here are a couple of drawing I did of the leaves on the trees outside the window.  I traced the leaves onto my page and then drew in the vanes and colored the leaves.

I am glad that I put together a travel journal as this is an easy, quick way to squeeze art into your life when life gets in the way of creating and gets busy.  At first I was reluctant to put a travel kit together as I wasn't sure how much use it would get, but I am finding more opportunities the use it, even at home when I just want to do a quick sketch or drawing.  Do you have a travel kit to do art on the go?  What have you included in your travel kit? I would love to hear what you include in your travel kit and see some of the art you have created on the go.  Well, back to studying.  Until next time, have a great week.
