Journal - Faux Leather

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  This week I have another flip of a journal that I made recently using pattern paper, drawing paper, stickers and Tim Holtz ephemera.  I used a faux leather print pattern paper for the cover and then used Staz-on ink to ink the edges.  Here is the journal that I made and some of the pages showing pockets, tags and a bookmark.

And here is a video showing a flick through this journal if you would like to see more:

I have been having a lot of fun making journals lately and am thinking about selling this journal, along with several others, on Etsy.  Hope you try making your own journal sometime.

You can see a video on how to make a basic journal here:

Until next time, happy creating.

Journal - Purple Butterflies and Birds

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  This week I have a flip of a journal that I made recently during a work retreat, while teaching other co-workers how to create their own journal.  We made the journals out of cereal boxes, pattern paper, card stock and stickers.  After making the basic journal at work, I brought it home and added pockets, tags and other decorations using stamping and other stickers.  Here is the journal that I made.

And here are the journals that co-workers created.

And here is a video I made showing a flip through the journal I made:

We all had a lot of fun making our journals.  In my previous post I show you how to make a basic journal and I save all the scraps, from making the journal, to add pockets and tags.  I ended up donating this journal back to work for a raffle that they will be having to raise money for a local charity.  I hope you try making your own journal sometime, they are fun to make and can be used for any purpose - diary, notes, smash book or art journal.  Until next time, happy creating.

Creating a Basic Journal

Hello creative friends. I hope everyone is having a great week.  This week I have a basic journal that I created and a video showing how I created it. I created this journal to see if I could make the basic journal, cover and signatures (pages), within a couple of hours for a work project.  Turns out, I could.  I saved the scraps from making the journal and used them to add pockets and tags to it afterwards.  Turns out the decorating part is what take the most time. I also make another journal at the same time, using different pattern paper, which I do not show in the video.  It was made using the same process, just different paper.  I took both journals to work to show my boss and one of my co-workers bought the first one, which is the one in the video.  I didn't take any pictures of this journal before taking it to work, so I only have this one picture that I created from the video to show you.

Here are pictures of the other journal that I made at the same time using different pattern paper and used my scraps to add pockets and tags to it along with some other ephemera from Tim Holtz.

And here is the video showing how I created the basic journal.

I have been having so much fun making these journals and am thinking about make a couple of more to put on eBay and/or Etsy. We did end up making journals at work, which I will post pictures of the one I made next week, and it was a lot of fun.  I hope you enjoy the video and hope you try making your own journal.  Until next time, happy creating.

Antique Journal

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  This week I have a video of an antique journal that I created.  I wanted to make a journal that I could use to record my thoughts, lists and my day.  But I also wanted a journal that had decorations and images in it, instead of being just a plan journal.  I also wanted to give the journal an antique look, so I coffee stained the pages.  Then I used paint, stamps and ephemera to create the cover and the journal pages.  Here are a couple of pictures of the journal that I created.

And here is a video I made showing how I created this journal along with a quick flip through the journal.

I really like the way this journal came out, so much so that now I am not sure I want to write in it.  And I had so much fun making this journal, I have made several others since.  I hope you enjoy the video and I hope you try making your own journal.  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.
