Creating a Junk Journal

Hello creative friends.  Hope your week is going well, mine is going good.  This past weekend I completed a journal page and was hoping to have it ready to post for the Creative Arts Collaboration group and event this past weekend for #LoveSpringArt, but was not able to get it completed and edited in time.  I also was not able to get it ready to post today, however I was able to get another video ready to share on a junk journal that I created the weekend before last.  I saw a video that Shannon Green posted on YouTube showing a junk journal that she created and it inspired me to create one myself using junk mail, advertising, cards, envelopes, packaging and scrap paper that I have been collecting.  I figured this would be a good way to repurpose and recycle all of this stuff I have been saving and put it to good use.  I can use it to play around with paints, markers and other products and supplies; And experiment with new techniques and ideas.  This video shows a flip through the journal I created, but does not show how I put it together.  Shannon's video is the best I have seen on YouTube showing how to create and bind a junk mail journal and can be found here if interested in seeing how she put hers together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxjsW0-4b7M

Here is the video I created showing the flip through the journal I created:

I will be getting the video of the journal page I created this past weekend edited and post by next Tuesday.  Hope you try putting together your own junk journal.  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.

Art Journal Page - Legacy of Freedom

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  As I mentioned in my last post, the weekend before last I created two journals pages.  The Happy Valentine's Day journal page I posted last week and another journal page with butterflies.  I affixed 7Gypsies tissue paper to the journal page and then painted over it with blue paint.  I used my Silhouette machine to cut out butterflies from plain card stock and decorated them with metallic paint, gears and keys.  And then I used my Silhouette to cut out flowers and affixed them to the page.  I finished the page with doodling and a title.  Here are pictures of the journal page I created.

Here is a video showing how I created this page.

I also created two more journals to add to my Etsy shop this past weekend.  A Tea Journal and a Weathered Wood look journal.  Here are some pictures of the two journals I created.

You can see more pictures of these journals in my Etsy shop located here https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoysArt360.

I've been trying to get a number of journals completed to have in my Etsy shop.  There are 12 journals in my shop now, so that should be good for a while.  I am looking forward to getting back to doing more art journaling.  If interested in seeing a flip through any of the journals I have listed, just let me know.  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.

Art Jounral Page - Happy Valentine's Day

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been going well and I had an awesome weekend.  Unlike my last post where I struggled for 3 weeks to complete one art journal page and was still not completely happy with it, this weekend I completed 2 art journal pages, and love them both, and created 2 new journals for my Etsy shop.  I was on a roll this weekend.  One of the journal pages I created is for Valentine's Day.  At my work they bring in a cake each month, for everyone's birthdays for that month, and this month it was a chocolate cake with strawberry filling for Valentine's Day and they had the cutest Valentine's Day napkins.  So being the hoarder creative person I am LOL, I had to bring one home and use it on a journal page.  Here is the journal page I created for Valentines Day along with some close ups.

After affixing the napkin to my journal page, I painted in between the hearts with black paint and then doodled around the hearts with a white Signo pen.  Then I cut out the Happy Valentine's Day with my Silhouette and added it to the page.  Here is a video showing how I created this page:

I will post the other journal page I created, along with a video of it, next week.

And here are picks of the two new journals that I created and added to my Etsy shop:

Faux Wood Journal

Love Journal

Thank you for stopping by.  Hope everyone has a great week.  Until next time, happy creating.
