Fun with Homemade Stamps & Journal Pages

Hello creative friends.   This weekend my granddaughter came to stay and we had lots of fun making our own stamps, playing with them and creating journal pages with them.  I bought some foam sheets from the dollar store, dug up some leftover yarn and cut up a cardboard box so that we could make our out homemade stamps.  We cut and punched shapes and used yarn to glue designs onto the cardboard pieces.  Here are pics of the stamps we made.

Here are the stamps that I made:

And the stamps my granddaughter made:

Then we played with the stamps in our art journals.  I stamped and stenciled this background onto a background page that I had added dictionary pages to:

And my granddaughter created this journal page with the stamps she made.

Then we completed a Life Book page using our new stamps.  The first one is mine and the second one my granddaughters.

Then we complete another Life Book page, since we were having so much fun creating.  The first one is mine and the second one is my granddaugters.

We had so much fun this weekend making our own stamps and creating journal pages together.  Have you made your own homemade stamps?  If so I would love to hear about it and how you use your homemade stamps in your art journal pages.  Until next time, happy creating.

Beautiful Butterfly

Hello creative friends.  This weekend I created a new art journal page and a video.  I haven't done a video in a while and decided that I would try to do at least one video a month.  I should be able to do that.  This art journal page was based on a quote that I found in a magazine.  Here are a few pics of the finished journal page that I am calling Beautiful Butterfly, based on the quote I used.

And here is the video showing how I created this page.

I used collage elements in this journal page, which I don't do a lot of, but would like to do more of.  Do you use collage elements in your journal pages?  If so I would love to hear about how you incorporate collage elements into your art journal pages.  Until next time, happy creating.

Life Book Journal Pages and Background Pages

Hello creative friends.  Hope all is well in your world.  My granddaughter came to visit this weekend so we had a fun filled creative weekend.  It seems like its been forever since she came to visit, even though it was about 3 weeks ago, and it was really nice to see her and spend some time with her.  This weekend I finished a Life Book page that I started last weekend.  Here is the finished page.

While my granddaughter worked on a journal page of her own:

And then we both created another Life Book Journal page together.   The first one is mine and the second one is hers.

We really had a lot of fun creating and spending time together this weekend together.  I also played with sprays and stencils in a new Dylusions art journal I bought.  Here are the backgrounds I created.

The last one I was not trilled with.  I tried to add orange on top of the blue but it turned greenish brown, duh.  I figured I would gesso over it and try something else, until my granddaughter gave me a tag she made that matches it perfectly (shown laying on top of the layout).  So I am going to leave it as is and create a journal page using her tag.  We will have to work on it together next time she visits.  So what creative endeavors have you been up to lately?  I would love to hear about it.  Until next time, happy creating.

Journal Backgroups

Hello creative friends.  This weekend I had fun creating journal page backgrounds using different materials.  Usually I will start a journal page from a blank white page.  But I decided to create a bunch of backgrounds so that I will have something to start with other than a blank page.  Here are the backgrounds I created.

Fabric

Book pages

Patterns

White Tissue Paper

Printed Tissue Paper

Used/Painted Baby Wipes

Various - book pages & printed papers

There are so many options for journal backgrounds.  I can't wait to start creating journal pages on these backgrounds.  Do you start a journal page from a blank page or do you start with a previously created background?  I would love to hear about how you start a journal page.  Until next time, happy creating.
