Creating Boho Beads for Handmade Journals

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone had a good Christmas and is having a good week.  I enjoyed spending time with family over the Christmas weekend and I am having a great week as I'm on vacation this week.  This week I have a video showing how I created Boho beads for my handmade Etsy journals.  Here is a picture of some of the beads I created for my journals.

And here is the video showing how I created my Boho beads.

I really love the look the Boho beads give to my handmade journals and I had a lot of fun making them.  You can visit my Etsy shop at:  https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoysArt360 if interested in any of my handmade journals.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you.  I hope everyone has a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Mixed Media Notebook Cover

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been going well.  This week I have a mixed media cover that I created on a notebook.  I wanted to make a gift for a friend at work for Christmas and since she takes notes a lot, I though it would be a good idea to do a mixed media cover on a notebook.  I used a composition notebook and glued beads and buttons to the cover.  I then covered everything with white gesso.  I used spray inks to add color to the cover and then highlighted the texture with copper metallic paint.  I then added washing tape to the cover and a tag.  I then did the back cover to match the front by adding gesso to the back cover, then ink sprays and then metallic paint. Here are pictures of the mixed media cover I made.

And here is the video showing how I created this notebook cover.

I really like the way this turned out and hope that my friend likes it.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Page - Ripple Effect

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  This week I have an art journal page I created using watercolor paints, Posca pens, washi tape and ephemera from my stash.  I really like the art journal pages I see other artist do where they add wavy lines and then write between the lines, so I decided to try it myself.  I used watercolor paint to add color to the page, then I added some washi tape and affixed a picture from my stash.  I then found a quote in my stash that I liked and though went with the page well.  I added the wavy lines to my journal page and wrote the quote on the page with a Posca pen.  Here is a picture of the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this page.

It was a lot harder to do the wavy lines and the quote than I ever thought.  I struggled with figuring out how many lines I would need and of course I ran out of space and had to squeeze the last bit into the space at the bottom.  But I really like the way this page turned out.  Have you ever tried this before?  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  Hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Page - Determination

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a great week.  My week has been going well.  I've been very busy at work this week and looking forward to some time off during the Christmas/New Year holiday.  This week I have an art journal page that I created using watercolor paint and acrylic paint, some foam stars and letters and a picture and a couple of quotes from my stash.  I applied watercolor paint to my page and then used alcohol and salt to add texture to the page.  I then affixed the picture and foam stars and letters to the page.  I used acrylic paint to add silver to the stars and the letters.  I then added the quotes and used the silver paint to outline them.  Here are pictures of the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this page.

As always I really like the way this page turned out and I like the quotes and message of this journal page.  If you have any questions, please leave me a comment.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Page - Courage to Go On and Revamped Journals

Hello creative friends.  Hope you are having a good week.  My week is going well.  This week I have an art journal page that I created and I also took time off  work last week and revamped the journals in my Etsy shop.  I added more decorations to the journals to decorate the cover and the pages.  I added clips and more tags to the journals.  I then added a chain of handmade Boho beads to the binding.  Here are some pics of the revamped journals.

And here is the picture of the art journal page I created.  I used watercolor paints to add color to the page and then Recollections watercolor brush pens to create the black lace on the page.  I added a picture from my stash to the page attached to black cardstock.  I then added some white lace and material to the picture.  I then finished it with off with some flowers and a quote.

And here is the video showing how I created this page.

I really like the way this page turned out and had a lot of fun revamping the journals in my Etsy shop.  Hopefully I will find a home for them.  If interested in any of the journals you can visit my Etsy shop at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoysArt360 and if you want to see a flip through any of the journals you can see them on my YouTube channel.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Page - Morning Light and a Weekend Country Fair

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  This past weekend me and my husband went to a county fair at our local national park. Fall is my favorite time of the year because that is when the weather in Florida cools off and there are lots of fall festivals to attend.  Here are a couple of pics from the country fair.

I also have an art journal page I created using Gesso, Watercolor paints, Staz-on Ink, stencils, gel medium, Posca pens, washi tape and ephemera from my stash.  I took scraps of a map and music note page and used gesso to adhere them to my page.  I added washi take and then added color to the page using watercolor paints.  Then I used Staz-on inks through stencils to add pattern to the page.  I adhered my picture, title and a quote to the page and then used my black Posca pen to trace around the picture, title and quote.  Here is a picture of the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this page.

I had a lot of fun at the county fair and had fun creating this art journal page.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

And the tags I made using Dina Wakley stamps, a Dina Wakely Stencil and Recollections Watercolor brush pens I recently bought.  I also used my Prismacolor pencils, Artistrove watercolor set, Pentel markers and Basic modeling paste.  Here is a picture of the tags I made.

And here is a video showing how I created these tags.

Bible Journaling

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  This week I have a bible journaling page that I created.  I've been seeing people using their bibles to do art journaling and I thought I would like to try it myself.  I went to a local Christian store and found that they have bibles designed specifically for journaling in.  I found a beautiful bible that already had designs printed on some of the pages to get you started.  I also found a kit with stuff in it for bible journaling that I bought to get started with.  So I colored some of the pre-printed pages using colored pencils.  Then I decided to dive in and create a page using paint and stickers and found I enjoyed it.  So I decided to do another page and create a video showing how I made the page.  I used gelatos, stickers, washi tape and stamping.  Here is a picture of the page I created.

And here is the video showing how I made this page.

I really like the way it turned out and had fun creating it.  Have you tried bible journaling yet?  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Smashbook Scrapbook Journal

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been going well.  This week I have a flip through of my Smashbook Scrapbook Journal that I've created and am working on filling.  I decided that I wanted a smashbook scrapbook journal with pockets and some pages with decorations, but I could not find what I wanted online, so I decided to made my own with pattern paper, mixed media paper and pockets.  This journal was the inspiration for some of the journals that I've make for my Etsy shop and love that they can be used for a variety of things; For example you can use it as a smashbook like this one, as a diary, an art journal, a writing journal, a bullet journal, or whatever else you can think of.  This journal I made for myself I also decorated the cover used spray inks, stencils and stamping to decorate it.  Here are pictures of some of the pages from this journal.

I love having pockets to store my tickets and ephemera in.

I also made mini photo albums out of some pictures using washi tape and put them in pockets.

And here is a video showing a flip through my journal showing what I've done so far.

I really like this journal and have been having a lot of fun filling it up.  If you are interested in a handmade journal similar to this one, you can visit my Etsy shop at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoysArt360  to see all of the journals I've made.

Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  I hope you liked the video and I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating. to see all of the journals I've made.

Poppies and Tea Art Journal Page and a Mixed Media Class

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  This week I have several art journal pages I created from a Craftsy class I took this weekend that was taught by Lindsay Weirich the Frugal Crafter and I have another art journal page that I created in my homemade journal.  Here are the art journal pages that I created from the Craftsy class I took.

I really like the way these pages turned out and I learned a lot about watercolors from the class.

Here is the Art Journal page I created in my homemade journal.  I decided to create a simple journal page using pictures of several different objects, a tea pot, a tea cup, a cupcake and flowers.  After sketching the items on my page and painting them with acrylic paints, I glued a picture of a poppy journal to the page.

And here is the video showing how I created this page:

I like the way this page turned out and had fun creating it.  Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Magazine Journal and Savannah, GA Drawings

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been interesting.  We survived Hurricane Irma, had lots of limbs to clean up and lost power for about 18 hours, but all and all we fared better than many others and am thankful for that.  If you were in the path of the Hurricane, I hope you and your family fared well also.  This week I have two drawings that I created using vacation pictures from Savannah, GA while waiting out the storm and colored them with colored pencils.  I also made a magazine journal inspired by Dede Willingham and created 2 art journal pages in the journal using acrylic paints and ephemera from my stash. Here are the drawings I created of Savannah, GA.

And here is the magazine journal I made and the 2 two-page spreads I created in this journal.

And here is a video showing how I created this journal and the two pages.

I enjoyed creating the drawings and want to do more.  And I had fun creating the magazine journal and the two pages and look forward to working in it more in the future.  Have you created a journal using magazines before?  Thank you for stopping by and watching the video.  Hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.
