Creating a Custom Planner Part 3

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week and had a good Thanksgiving.  My week has been going well.  As mentioned previously, with the new year just around the corner I've been thinking about a new planner and decided to create my own custom planner.  So this is part 3 where I decorate the cover and the first couple of pages.  Part 1 from the week before is where I showed how I used scrapbook paper to create the pages and make the planner cover.  And part 2 from last week is where I planned out my monthly and weekly pages and add them to my planner pages for the year.  Here is a picture of what the planner looks like and how I decorated the first couple of pages.

And here is the video showing how I decorated these pages, added a bookmark and added Boho beads to the spine.

I really like the way this planner turned out and can't wait to start using it.  What planner are you going to use next year?  Thank you for stopping by and watching.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Creating a Custom Planner Part 2

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  This week has been going well for me.  I am on vacation this week, yea.  I really needed a break.  As mentioned last week, with the new year just around the corner I've been thinking about a new planner and decided to create my own custom planner.  So this is part 2 where I plan out my monthly and weekly pages; Create them and add them to my planner pages.  Part 1 showed how I used scrapbook paper to create the pages and make the planner cover.  And part 3, next week, will show how I decorate to cover and some of the pages.  Here is what the planner looks like, so far just the interior pages have changed.

And here is the video showing how I planned out and created my monthly and weekly pages.
I really like how my planner is turning out and I can't wait to start decorating it and using it.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video. Creating a Custom Planner Part 1

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  This week has been going well for me.  With the new year just around the corner I've been thinking about a new planner.  I figure my options are to buy a planner, like I did the year before last, or a bullet journal, like I did last year.  But I wanted something in between the two.  I saw a video where someone altered a book for their planner and was thinking about doing that.  But in the end I decided to create my own custom planner.  So I used scrapbook paper I had to create the pages and to cover the planner cover.  Here is what the planner looks like so far.  Next I will plan out my pages and create my monthly calendars and weekly spreads.

And here is the video showing how I created my planner.
I really like how the cover turned out and the paper I used for it and the pages; And I can't wait to decorate it and start decorating the inside pages, once I figure out how I am going to lay out my pages.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video. Hope you stop by next week and see how I lay out the pages in my planner.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Inktober 2020 Flip Through

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.  We have been doing well.  This week I have a video showing all of my Inktober drawings, the good, the bad and the ugly LOL.  I got off to a great start and posted some of my drawings previously, but half way through was not happy with my drawings and started to burn out.  I skipped doing any drawings on quite a few days towards the end and then gave up all together.  Here are a couple of drawings I did towards the end that I was ok with, but still had issues with them, which I explain in my video below.

In my video you will also see several other drawings that I did and was not happy with at all.  Part of the problem was with my inexperience with using markers in with my drawings and part of the issue was with my drawings. And then after Inktober ended I decided to just do a couple of drawings using simply a regular pencil and a charcoal pencil.

And here is the video showing the complete flip through all of my Inktober drawings.
I plan to continue to practice drawing animals, but will use different media for my drawings other than markers.  I would be interested in seeing your drawings if you participated in Inktober, so leave me a comment and let me know where I can see your drawings.  Until next time, Happy creating.

I had fun creating these pages and they came together so quick and easy.  I really like my now ephemera journal because it has a nice selection of ephemera and I don't have to go searching around my craft room to find what I want to use.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Creating an Ephemera Journal Part 1

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.  We are doing good.  This week I have an ephemera journal that I created to put some of my ephemera in and use when creating journal pages and other projects.  I saw one that 49Dragonflies created and was using in one of her projects, so I decided to make one for myself.  I decided to use an old book for the cover and some page protectors to create my pages and pockets to put my ephemera in.  The plan was to keep the book cover as is and perhaps add some ephemera to the front to decorate it.  However by the time I was done creating the inside, I noticed the spine was splitting so I ended up having to completely redo the outside of the cover as well to fix the spine an decorate it.  The video was so long that I had to split it into 2 parts.  The first part is showing how I created the inside and the pages, part 2 is how I fixed the cover and decorated it and then I also created a part 3 showing how I filled it up and the types of things I included in mine.  Here is a picture of the complete journal filled up with ephemera.

And here is part 1 of the video showing how I created the pages, decorated the inside and bound the pages into the journal.

I am really happy with my ephemera journal and know I will get a lot of use out of it.  I now have one place where I can go to for a variety of ephemera to use in my projects.  If interested the video that I saw from 49Dragonflies is located here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHpdwMsMHJI  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Until next time, happy creating.

Inktober ArtSnacks Unboxing and Book of Days Pages

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is staying safe and surviving in such an unpredictable world.  I've been doing ok.  Getting stir crazy being at home for so long.  Going on six months of working from home and very grateful that I am able to and am still working.  This year has been a challenge for me to get motivated to do much creating, but I am planning to participate in Inktober this year again and hoping to be able to do it all month.  I ordered the Inktober ArtSnack box again this year and then after found out about the plagiarism accusations.  I watched the video from the accuser and some of the points he makes seem very compelling.  I guess we will have to wait and see what the courts say about it all.  Because of all of this I was reluctant to do an unboxing video, but decided to anyway, not to promote it, but so people can see what came in the box.  Again this year they did not tell you what was in the box, however if I had known what was in it, I'm not sure I would have bought it.  Anyway, if you are interested here is the video showing the unboxing of the Inktober ArtSnacks box.

I have also been doing Book of Days with Effy Wild.  I've completed a few more pages and I think finally caught up with this class.  Here are the pages I've created recently.

I've really been enjoying creating these art journal pages.  And I am looking forward to Inktober starting.  Are you going to participate in Inktober this year?  Let me know what your thoughts are on all of this.  Stay safe and until next time, Happy Creating.

Creating Affirmation Cards and Book of Days Update

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.  Me and my family are doing well.  I'm still working from home due to covid and no word on when we will return to the offices.  Which I'm not complaining, so no rush.  You would think that since I don't have the long commute to work that I would have more time to do art, but for some reason I am finding it hard this year to get inspired and motivated to do much art.  I'm still trying to keep up with the Book of Days that I signed up for this year and the Dina Wakley year of gratitude, but not doing well with either.  I've had a lot going on this year though with the surgery, therapy and all.  Anyway, here are some of the recent pages I've done for the book of days.

I also managed to complete a project that I've been thinking about doing for more than a year now and that is making my own affirmation cards.  I bought some cards from the dollar store for a kids game, put gesso on one side, scrapbook paper on the other side, and then proceeded to paint, stamp and color the side with the gesso to create my affirmation cards.  Here is a picture of the whole deck and some pics of some of the cards I created.

And here is the video showing how I made these card.

I really like how these cards turned out and had a lot of fun creating them. Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  Stay safe and until next time, Happy creating.
