Painting with a Twist and an Art Journal Page

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is have a good week.  My week has been going well so far.  This past Saturday I was invited to a Painting with a Twist paint party and had a great time.  Here is a picture of the painting I did.

Me and my granddaughter are going to try and attend some of their public painting session coming up.

I also had an art journal page that I started some time ago, that at some point went horribly wrong and I set it aside out of frustration.  I decided to give this art journal page a second go and was able to work it out and finish the page.  I started out painting it with watercolors, but then switched to acrylic paints to finish the page.  Here is a picture of the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this page, including the struggle in the beginning.

I really like the way this art journal page turned out in the end, but at one point I wasn't sure if I was going to finish it or not.  Thank you for stopping by and checking out my video.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment.  I hope everyone has a great week.  Until next time, happy creating.

Creating a Zine

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been busy at work. I have been seeing where people online are making Zine's and thought I would make one myself.  A Zine, in case you haven't heard of it, is like a mini magazine or journal that you make and can print multiple time to give to your friends.  I decided to make mine out of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.  I folded the paper into a mini journal and then added watercolor paints to the pages.  I then added quotes and stickers from my stash.  Here are pictures of the Zine I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this Zine.

And here is a picture of the Zine you can copy and print out for yourself if you like.

I show you in the video how to fold it into a mini journal.  I printed off copies myself and made mini journals for some of my friends at work.  I really like the way it turned out and had a lot of fun creating it.  I am already thinking of other Zine's that I can create.  Have you made a Zine before?  If so I would love to hear about it.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Page - Happiness and My New Planner

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been very busy, hence why this post is later than usual.  This week I have an art journal page and the first two weeks in my new planner.  I am really enjoying my new planner and having fun decorating it as I go.  Here are pics of the first two weeks in my new planner.

I don't like my handwriting, but I like the way the overall pages look.  And the art journal page I created using watercolor paint, spray ink, acrylic paint, Posca paint pens and ephemera from my stash.  This page was a bit of a struggle as you will see in the video and didn't turn out the way I planned, but I am happy with it.  I painted the background, the planets and the sun on my page and then created a tape transfer for the center.  I then found a quote in my stash that I liked and added that to my page and then added my word for the year "Release" to the sun.  Here is a pic of the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this page.

What do you think of this page?  I think it turned out ok and I am happy with it for the most part.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Page - Word for the Year "Release"

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a great week.  My week has been going well.  This week I have an art journal page that I created for my word of the year, which I decided is "Release".  I want to release all of the negativity, the worrying, the hurt, the anger, the self consciousness, anything that is holding me back and keeping me from being happy, healthy and successful this year.  As I thought about this and my word for the year and how I wanted to create a journal page around this, I thought about the butterfly and how it is released from a cocoon to fly free.  So I decided to create a butterfly being released from a cocoon.  I used watercolor paint to put color on the page and then used stencils, spray inks and acrylic paint to make a background for my butterfly.  I took a separate piece of paper and created my butterfly using acrylic paint.  I folded the butterfly and painted the outside like a cocoon and then attached it to my journal page.  I then added my word for the year to the butterfly.  Here are some pictures of the art journal page I created.

And here is a video showing how I created this art journal page.

So what is your word for the year?  Leave me a commit, I would love to hear from you.  Thank you for stopping by and until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Flip Through & Setting up my Planner for 2018

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week and had a good New Year.  My week is going well and I had a great New Year.  This past week and weekend, I've been working on setting up my planner for this year and decorating it.  The planner I bought is a Leisure Art planner and has beautiful prints on the pockets, dividers and pages that you can color.  So I have been having a blast setting it up and decorating the pages.  Here are some pics of the dividers I've colored.

And I decorated the title page with my word of the year and some flower stickers and a butterfly sticker.

I'm really having a lot of fun with this planner and decorating it.

This week I also have a video showing a flip through an art journal I completed.  Here are a couple of pic from this completed journal.

And here is the video showing the flip through of this completed art journal.

I have been working in this journal off and on for a couple of years, since I have multiple journals going at the same time and I tend to jump around depending on my mood for the day LOL.  You can find videos on how I created most of these pages on my YouTube channel at:

Have you set up your planner for the year yet?  If so I would love to see it.  Thank you for stopping by and until next time, Happy Creating.
