Journal Page - The Birds are Watching and Happiness

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a great week.  This weekend my granddaughter came for a visit, and it was her birthday, so we hung out and did some art journaling.  I have been having all kinds of fun with using junk mail on my journal pages lately, so I thought my granddaughter would like to do that too.  We glued down a tri-fold piece of junk mail on our journal pages and then paint, stamped and decorated them with pictures from magazines.  Here are pictures of the journal page I created:

Have you used junk mail on your journal pages before?  I think it makes the journal pages more interesting and interactive.  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.

Journal Page - Fall Art Journal Page Renew Yourself

Hello creative Friends.  This weekend I created a fall art journal page for the YouTube Creative Art Collaborators event.  This months theme is fall.  You can see all of the videos posted for this event by other artists by searching #LoveFallArt on YouTube and you can add #ArtJournal to see art journal pages specifically to narrow the search down.  On this page I used leaves, that me and my granddaughter collected last fall for another project and stamped the leaves on the page and then attached the painted leaves to the page at the end.  I also painted a tire and then added it to the page with a string and on the back of the tire I added my quote along with the title "Renew Yourself", since this page is all about renewal.  Here is a picture of the completed art journal page I created.

And here is the video I made showing how I created this page.

I hope you like the video and thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope you also join the event this weekend and view all the videos posted by other creative artists.  Until next time, happy creating.

Journal Pages - Weekend Journal 2

Hello creative friends, hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  I completed several more pages in my weekend journal.  This time I decided to use some Liquitex Basics modeling paste through several different stencils;  Then I played around with my Adirondack and Dylusions ink sprays.  For a couple of the pages I already had some pictures selected ahead of time, so I created the background to go with them, but with other pages I was not sure what I was going to put on the page until after I finished the background.  So after I was happy with the backgrounds, I went through my stash of words, quotes and pictures to find the right ephemera that I felt worked best on each of the other journal pages to finish them. I completing 7 pages this time over the weekend.  Two of the pages I completed was already started from the last play in my weekend journal where I used up the paint that was left over and then I decided to put modeling paste on the next 5 pages.  I am planning to work on 5 pages the next time and see how that goes.  I would like to add more of my own drawings and art to the pages.  Here are a couple of pictures of my favorite journal pages from the 7 I created this weekend.

And here is the video I made showing how I created these pages.  I show all 7 completed pages at the end of the video.

I hope you like the video and I hope have a great week.  Until next time happy creating.

Journal Pages - Weekend Journal 1

Hello creative friends, hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going well.  I have been thinking a lot about working on and complete more than one journal page at a time, as I only have the weekends to work on my art journal.  And doing one journal page each weekend, if I have the time, is going to take me forever to complete an art journal. So I decided to work on 10 art journal pages at the same time this weekend.  I worked in my Strathmore 9"x12" Mixed Media art journal and I scraped paint on each of the pages with a credit card;  Then I added some papers to some of the pages and stencils and stamps to others.  After I was happy with the backgrounds, I went through my stash of words, quotes and pictures to find the right ephemera that I felt worked best on each of the journal pages to finish them.  Completing 10 pages over a weekend proved to take quite a bit of time so I plan next time to work on maybe 5 pages at the same time and see how that goes.  This is somewhat similar to the 5s Journal that Shannon Green introduced, and I completed one myself some time ago, except that the 5s Journal is timed and you only have 15 minutes to complete each stage.  What I am trying to accomplish is completing more than one journal page over a weekend and allowing myself as much time as it takes and as much time as I have available to complete them.  Here are a couple of pictures of my favorite journal pages from the 10 I created this weekend.

The heart with the rose is a tape transfer I created for this page.

These are birds that I drew in my sketch book.  I printed them out, stamped them with a script stamp, cut them out and used clear Gesso to fix them to the journal page.  I then painted them with acrylic paint.

I really liked how all of the journal pages turned out and it was difficult to select just a couple as my favorites.  I also created the following video showing how I created these pages and show all 10 journal pages at the end.

How do you like to work in your art journal - one page at a time or several pages at once?  I would love to hear how you like to art journal.  Hope you have a good week.  Until next time, happy creating.

Journal Page - Your Search is Over

Hello creative friends.  Here is another art journal page I created called the Your Search is Over.  I had a journal page that I glued a napkin to with gesso some time ago, but did not know what to do with it after that.  I decided to search through my stash of pictures, quotes and words to find items I could put on this journal page.  Here is the journal page I created:

Here are some closeup pictures of this page:

This page has a lot of meaning for me.  I really like the way it turned out.  Here is the video I recorded showing how I created this page:

Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, happy creating.
