Creating a Lapbook Part 3 - Decorating

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week and had a good Memorial Day weekend.  My week is going well and I had a good weekend.  Me and my husband relaxed and cooked some ribs on the grill.  This week I have part 3 of a multi-part video on how I created a lapbook.  I used stamping, ink pads and ephemera from my stash to decorate the lapbook.  I also added some elastic to the lapbook and covered a couple of composition books with pattern paper to match my lapbook and added them to the inside.  Here are some pictures of the lapbook decorated.

And here is the video showing how I decorated this book.
I really like the ways this lapbook turned out, however after I thought I was done, I decided to add more to it.  So I have a 4th Bonus video on adding tags, labels and making mini journals for the inside pockets, which will be posted next week.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my videos.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Creating a Lapbook Part 2 - Inserts

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going good.  I had a lot of fun on vacation in Gatlinburg and here are a few pictures from my vacation:

Me and my husband love Gatlinburg.  And while we were there we also went to Knoxville to see my daughter.  We had dinner and then walked around and saw some street art.

We had a great time and can't wait to return.

This week I have part 2 showing how I created a lapbook.  After creating the cover, I used file folders to add pockets and flip outs to the cover.  I then used envelopes, that I've been hoarding, to add pockets to the lapbook.  I used a permanent glue stick to adhere the envelopes down and used washi tape around some of the envelopes for decorations.  Here are a few pics of the file folder pocket/flip outs and the envelope pockets I added to this lapbook.

And here is the video:
I've been having fun creating this lapbook, now that I've gotten past the cover debacle LOL.  And really liking how it is turning out.  Next week I will show how I decorated this lapbook and show more pics of the whole thing.  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Creating a Lapbook Part 1 - The Cover

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a great week.  My week is going well and I had a great time last week on vacation in Gatlinburg.  I've come across several videos on YouTube of people making lapbooks and decided to make one myself.  This is part 1 of a multi part video showing how I created a lapbook from scratch.  I started with some chipboard and pattern paper.  I used 2 pieces of chipboard for the front and back cover and cut a 2" strip for the spine.  I then used double sided tape to adhere the pattern paper to the chipboard.  I then used map pattern paper to cover the inside of the cover.  Here is a picture of the cover.
And here is the video showing how I made the cover.

I really enjoyed making the cover, except for some frustrating moments, which I left in the video for your entertainment LOL.  This video shows how I created the cover and in video 2 I show how I added more pockets and inserts to the inside of the lapbook, and in video 3 I show how decorate the lapbook.  And then I ended up creating a 4th bonus video where I added more inserts using leftover scrap pattern paper and I show how I make mini journals to fit into some of the pockets.  I hope you liked the video and come back to see the other videos showing how I created this lapbook.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Learn to Surf Art Journal Page

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  This week I am on vacation, so I am having a great week LOL.  Here is an art journal page the I created before going on vacation and scheduled this to post when the video goes live on YouTube.  This page I created in my Dina Wakley journal and I used a new set of gouache paint that I recently purchased.  I did a rough sketch of what I wanted to create on this page and then painted it in.  I then used some stamped images of shells that I colored and added to the page and then add a quote from my stash.  The quote says "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf! by John Kabat-Zinn".  Here is a picture of the journal page I created.
And here is the video:

This was the first time I've used gouache paint; I had fun playing around with them and creating this page.

Something else I've been playing around with is watercolor paints and have been going back in my pictures to find pictures to paint.  Here are some watercolor sketches I created from a trip to Sea World.

I've been have a lot of fun playing around with watercolors and creating these sketches.  It gives me the opportunity to be creative more often without taking a lot of time.  Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed the video and I hope you have a great week.  Until next time, Happy Creating.
