Inspirational Quotes ICADs

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  My week is going good.  This past weekend I made a couple of ICADs with inspirational quotes on them.  I found a book of index cards at Staples that were bound together with a ring and had a heavy plastic front and back cover.  I thought this would be perfect for decorating the ICADs, add inspirational quotes to and then keep them all together in this book.  I used gesso to the cards and then doodled in the wet gesso.  I then used watercolor paints to add color to the cards.  I cut some shapes from the Gelli printed papers I made last week and then looked on my Pinterest board for inspirational quotes I pinned to add to the cards.  I finished decorating the cards with washi tape, Posca pens, distressing crayons and liquid pearls.  Here are pictures of the cards I made.

And here is the video I recorded showing how I made these cards.
I had fun creating these and like the way they turned out.  I am looking forward to decorating more of these cards.  Have you made ICADs before?  Thank you for stopping by.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Gelli Printed Papers

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is have a great week.  My week is going good.  I'm still recovering from the flu and getting better every day.  This weekend I decided to play around with my Gelli plate and make some painted papers for use in my art journal.  I used acrylic paints, stencils and various papers to create these.  Here is a picture of some of the papers I created.

And here is a video showing how I created these papers.

I really like how these papers turned out and looking forward to seeing how I can use them in my art journal.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Until next time, Happy creating.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello Creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  Happy Valentine's Day!  My week has been very busy at working catching up for being out last week with the flu.  I am still recovering, but getting better every day.  Due to feeling stressed, burned out and sick with the flu, I have not been in my art room for a couple of weeks now, so I do not have an art journal page or video to share with you this week.  It's the first week I haven't had anything to share in quite a few years.  So I would like to re-share a favorite art journal page from Valentine's Day 2014 and hopefully I will be back in my art room soon creating lots of new art journal pages and projects.  My mind is already filling up with lots of ideas and projects I want to work on.  This art journal page I created for my husband and I still think he is the best thing every and I love him very much.  Here is my post again from 2014 and I hope that you are spending this Valentine's Day with your loved one's as well.

Post from Valentine's Day 2014

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's day and weekend.  In honor of Valentine's day I created an journal page this week.  I have an idea journal that I keep with me and write down ideas that come to me for journal pages.  I had several recorded that had hearts as the theme and chose one of the ideas in my idea journal to create this Valentine's layout.  I started out with covering the page in burgundy paint.  I then removed some of the paint through a stencil using a baby wipe.  I added some journaling with a black marker up the left side and then sprayed white paint through two paper heart doilies.

While this was drying I cut out two hearts and painted them with red paint.  I then sprayed white paint through the same paper heart doilies onto the hearts.  I painted in the rose design and added my sentiments with a black marker.  I then inked the edges and stamped with a script stamp.  I also applied gesso to the back of the hearts and wrote a note to my husband on the back of the hearts.

Once the journal page was dry, I sprayed black paint through several different stencils and stamped with the same script stamp that I used on the hearts above.

Finally I attached the hearts to a ribbon, stapled the ribbon to the top of my page and then covered the staple with a small heart that I cut out, painted, applied black ink to the edges and stamped with the same script stamp.  Here is the finished page.

I really love the way this page turned out.  I had a lot of fun creating this page and this layout was perfect for a Valentine's day layout.  I can see this idea being used in other ways as well using other shapes in place of the heart theme, for example birds, hot air balloons, clouds, or flowers.  What do you think?  Did you create a Valentine's day layout?  If so I would love to see it.  And if this layout inspired you to use this idea to create your own version I would love to see that as well.  I hope you had a good weekend and hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

Art Journal Page - Everything is Possible

Hello creative friends.  I hope everyone is having a great week.  This week I have been down and out with the flu, so trying to rest and get better as soon as possible.  Luckily the video for this week I completed, narrated and posted before getting sick, or I probably wouldn't have anything to post this week.  I had scraps of bleeding tissue paper left over from another art journal page and decided to glue them down on this page as a start to another page.  So this art journal page was already halfway completed when I started it.  I used watercolor paints to add color to the rest of the page and cover up any white spaces showing in between.  I then added a piece of textured paper and ribbon tape to cover the rest of the page that did not have tissue paper on it.  I then added a title, a quote and pictures from my stash to the page.  Then I traced around the title with a black Posca paint pen and edged the whole page with a Staz-on Ink pad.  Here are pics of the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this art journal page.

I really like how colorful this page turned out.  I was going to tone down the background with white gesso, but decided I really liked how colorful it was and decided to keep it as it was.  What do you think?  Thank you for stopping by and watching my video.  I hope everyone has a great week and I plan on spending the rest of the week recovering.  Until next time, Happy Creating.

Art Journal Page - Live Like a Star and a Video Hop #thanks4watchingart

Hello creative friends.  Hope everyone is having a good week.  My week has been busy and I think I might have caught the flu.  Today I have an art journal page that I created for a #thanks4watchingart video hop on YouTube.  All video creators who have less than a 1000 subscribers received a notice that we would no longer be monetized, so this video hop was created to increase our subscribers and hopefully avoid this.  I started this page by using watercolor paints in various shades of green and blue and then sprinkled salt on it to give the page a more model look.  Once dry, I brushed off the salt.  I then stamped and embossed a rose and butterfly on the page.  I added some stamping on the background in blue and read and then added a title and ephemera from my stash.  Here are some pictures of the art journal page I created.

And here is the video showing how I created this page.
