Welcome to my art blog. Join me in exploring art through drawing, painting, art journaling and mixed media; Using different tools, supplies and techniques; And finding inspiration.
Hello creative friends. Hope you are having a great week. My week has been busy. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to do much art journaling. So this week I have a mini antique handmade journal that I started a couple of weeks ago and finally finished. I antiqued the pages with coffee. I created the cover using mixed media, acrylic paint and black Staz-on ink to give the cover a distressed look. I also used ephemera from my stash to decorate the cover and added the word Courage. I added side tucks on a couple of the pages using ribbon and a stapler. Then I finished the journal by adding a few embellishments on some of the pages using stickers. However, most of the pages in this journal are blank. Here are some pictures of the journal I created.
And here is a short video showing a flip through this journal.

Hello creative friends. Hope everyone is having a good week. My week has been busy. I just got back from a trip to Washington DC last night for work. Enjoyed the trip, but the traveling to and from DC was exhausting. Even though I was there for one day, I was able to go on a tour of the city. Here are a couple of pictures from my trip to DC.
Union Station
Capital Building
MLK Memorial
Lincoln Memorial
Lincoln Memorial
IWO Jima Memorial
I am hoping to return some day when I have more time to visit the Smithsonian and some of the other museums there.
I also have an art journal page that I created using acrylic paint and ephemera from my stash. I had an art journal page that had leftover pink paint on it from another project. So I found some pictures and a title from my stash, added paint through a stencil to the page, added the smaller pictures to black tags, added some heart brads to the tags and then added a bit of washing tape to complete the page. Here are some pics of the art journal page I created.
And here is the video showing how I created this page.
Pink is not my favorite color, but I do like the way this page turned out. I think it turned out really cute. What do you thing? Thank you for stopping by and watching my video. Until next time, Happy Creating.
Hello creative friends. I hope everyone is have a good week. Mine has been going well. This week I have a mixed media painted lion art journal page and several art journal pages that I created during an outing with the Journey Daybook group. Since I've been practicing drawing and painting animals, I thought it would be good to mix it up and add some scrap paper to the page before drawing and painted the lion on my art journal page. The idea was to have the pattern and text on the scrap papers show through the painting, but as you can see below most of it got covered up. Here's the pic of the lion I painted.
I do like the way it turned out and I had fun creating it.
Here is the video showing how I created this art journal page.
Also, this last weekend I met up with the Journey Daybook group at the Harn Museum and did some art journaling in my travel journal. Here are the pics of the pages I did.
This is a couple of sketches from their miniature collection.
And this is a couple of masks from their African Collection
I had fun with the art journaling group and looking forward to the next get together. And I had fun painting the lion, but wish the scrap paper showed through more. I may try this again, but adjust my approach slightly. Thank you for stopping by and watching my video. I hope you have a great week. Until next week, Happy Creating.
Hello creative friends. I hope everyone is having a good week. My week has been going well. This week I have another art journal page and this time I decided to paint a Panda. I did a quick sketch of a panda in my art journal and then used acrylic paint and watercolor paint to paint it. Here is a pic of this journal page.
And here is a video showing how I created this panda journal page.
I also made a journal for a customer, per her request, and while making this one I also made another journal for my Etsy shop. Here are pics of the journal I made per the customers request.
She wanted a book without any pockets or tags and with the pages distressed. And she had a certain size that she wanted it to be. I was happy to make this for her and really like the way it turned out.
And here are pics of the other journal I made at the same time and put in my Etsy shop.
I made this journal without any pockets or tags as well and with just blank pages. I did not distress the pages because it's a lot of work and the distressed pages didn't seem to go well with the cover. I do however plan to make another journal with distress pages for my Etsy shop. You can visit my Etsy shop at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoysArt360 if your interested in purchasing this journal or any of the journal in my shop. Or you can contact me through my Etsy shop if you would like me to make a custom journal for you as well.
I hope you enjoyed the video of the painted Panda. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment. Thank you for stopping by, until next time Happy Creating.
